Congratulations to Wentao Tang, the newly elected 10B 2026 Programming Coordinator. Wentao Tang is an Assistant Professor in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at North Carolina State University. He received his B.S. in Chemical Engineering and B.S. in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics from Tsinghua University in 2015, and his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering at University of Minnesota in 2020. He was a process control engineer at Shell Global Solutions (U.S.) Inc. from 2020 to 2022, where he undertook multiple research projects for the development of Shell-Yokogawa Platform of Advanced Control and Estimation. His current research focuses on data-driven nonlinear process control theory, especially on state observation, machine learning of dissipative structures, and model-free controller synthesis. He is also interested in developing distributed optimization algorithms for large-scale and derivative-free problems, with applications in molecular discovery and advanced manufacturing systems.
